Creating environments where artists are free and confident in who they are while integrating technique and artistry

The goal of Bluebird workshops is to:

  • Coach artists to find freedom in their identity so that they may find their voice and communicate their story
  • Equip artists to bring hope and dignity
  • Integrate technique and artistry

Bluebird workshops include classes in ballet, contemporary and choreography. Using a mentoring/coaching approach we encourage artists to find their identity and communicate their story while pursuing excellence in technique. Choreography classes also include discussion and encouraging + constructive peer feedback.

…bringing hope and dignity through dance.

The Beautiful Things Project is a series of choreographic works, designed to explore different elements of the Grand Story through diverse styles of dance. The goal is to create works of art to speak truth, inspire, and invite you into a story greater than your own.

The Beautiful Things Project from Bluebird: uncaged on Vimeo.

This first installment is a story of hope. It’s about finding freedom and confidence in the dignity that we are a new creation. It’s a story of redemption…because He makes beautiful things out of the dust.

Truth–> identity. confidence. freedom

The second installment discusses choosing to believe the Truth about our identity. When we know He defines us–not our family, not the mirror, not our past, not our weaknesses, not our sin, not other people's opinions, not the cast list or pay scale–we have a humble confidence. And in that confidence is freedom to be the person we were made to be.

Mentoring

Mentoring-Forging positive relationships that honor, encourage, and challenge people in their unique story

Remember when you were little and you always looked up to the “big kids?” Remember the one that always took the time to say hello or put your hair up, or help you with choreography? Don’t we all wish we had someone like that to help us through life? Did you ever think that you could be a “big kid” to someone else?

We realize being an artist can be a lonely journey–but it doesn’t have to be traveled alone. We believe that, along with community, mentorship is integral to our growth and development as artists.

We all need someone to listen to our crazy ideas, send us texts that make us smile, and talk us through a melt down. We realize the importance of being vulnerable and the need for accountability to stay focused. Bluebird addresses the desire for a mentor by creating environments to connect younger artists with those more experienced who can offer wisdom and encouragement.

Collective

Collectivea community of artists dedicated to pursuing excellence while exploring and sharing creativity in an encouraging atmosphere.

Creative nights

A lot of us just need some space to dance–uninhibited, without having to worry about who's watching, the right technique, etc. And we need the freedom to remember the real joy that comes from dancing.

Bluebird: uncaged seeks to bring hope and dignity through dance. These monthly creative nights seek to create environments for artists to become free and confident their identity. The goal is to build community and provide a creative outlet outside of a formal dance institution.

We will start out with a warm-up and then move on to improv, choreography and discussion. The idea is to explore new ideas/concepts, learn and collaborate in an encouraging atmosphere. Creative Nights also serve as a laboratory for the creative process by providing eager dancers and encouraging + constructive peer feedback to works in progress.

The Bluebird community is open to any and all advanced dancers 18 and older. Feel free to invite friends who might be interested.
Come adventurous. Bring your ideas. Share your story. Dance in freedom.

Check back for more information about our next creative night!
