Uncaged Adventures

Panama 2014 recap pt. 3

We ended our trip with an open workshop for the dance community hosted by Ballet Adorad and an outdoor performance at Cinta Costera.

Check out this beautiful highlight video Post by Kevin Saavedra.

These people are amazing and this adventure would not have happpened without them. Just want to publicly thank Paola, Genesis and Lucyann for being so instrumental in planning this adventure; for driving, translating and taking time out of their schedule to host us. Y'all are amazing.

The last day, we were kinda touristy in Casco Viejo

Overall, this year's uncaged adventure was amazing. If two words could sum up our time, I think they would be "on mission." It was busy and exhausting but completely fulfilling.

Panama, you are beautiful. Your people are beautiful. The work Jesus is doing in and through you is beautiful. It is an honor an joy to serve alongside you and we're looking forward to next year. May Jesus continue to shine brightly. Hasta luego!

Panama 2014 recap pt. 2

Upon returning to Panama City, we spent the next few days performing for academic schools in the mornings and teaching ballet + modern in the evenings.

Happy 108th anniversary IPA!

An absolute honor to dance Jesus stories at Instituto Comercial–a public school

The students at Escuela de Danza Teresa Mann are so hard-working and committed to excellence. A joy to teach.

And the students at Ballet Adorad have a love of dance that's contagious

It was also a super treat to take class with the National Ballet of Panama

Special thanks to Paola and Genesis from Ballet Adorad, the National Ballet, Myriam from the Teresa Mann School for being so welcoming. Y'all are beautiful and so fun to dance with. Looking forward to collaborating more next year.

Panama 2014 recap pt. 1

Our time in Panama was amazing. The Church is alive, Jesus shines brightly and it's beautiful. Truly some special days.

We started out our adventure with a weekend in Chiriqui. Friday we explored beautiful Boquete.

Saturday we taught a workshop hosted by Alas de Angel. Approximately 87 students attended from schools all over the Chiriqui province. This was the first time for an event of this sort and the beginning of a collaboration between dance educators in Chiriqui.

CAC workshop

Sunday we danced in two services at Centro de Adoracion Cristiana para las Naciones. We then taught a flashmob for later that day.

CAYA at CAC

That afternoon, we headed to Chiriqui Mall and performed in the atrium between flash mobs and demonstrations by other dance groups.

Special thanks to Maricela, Kamalha and Alas de Angel for inviting us. As well as to Arturo, our translator, and all of the students for your eagerness and teachability. May Jesus continue to shine brightly through you and plant big dreams in your hearts!

Panama update #3

We've hit the home stretch. Our team is a little tired but we're determined to finish strong.

This weekend is pretty eventful. Here's what's on the agenda:

-An open workshop with Ballet Adorad.
-An outdoor performance at Casco Viejo

Prayer points:
  • a decent size turn out of students from around Panama City. Part of the aim of this workshop is to bring unity in the dance community
  • Details for the outdoor performance (flooring, sound, space, etc)
  • Opportunities to share the Jesus story and boldness in those opportunities.
  • Stamina, grace, and patience in our interactions.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms ~1 Peter 4:10

And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ… ~Colossians 4:3

Thanks so much for being on this journey and interceding for us. We are incredibly grateful and encouraged to know there are people behind us. Can't wait to share the stories when we get back. See ya in a few days!

We're excited to continue our relationships with Ballet Adorad and the Teresa Mann school. Paola and Genesis have been incredibly instrumental in the organization of this adventure. We're so thankful for their encouragement, friendship and open hearts/homes.

Prayer points:

  • clarity in communication that transcends any language barriers
  • Paola, Genesis, Suzzy, Myriam–that Jesus would be their strength and motivation
  • the students we will be in contact with

God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. As one psalmist puts it, ‘He throws caution to the winds, giving to the needy in reckless abandon. His right-living, right-giving ways never run out, never wear out. ~2 Cor. 9:8-9 MSG
