Something to think about

"To 'make it new.' The 'it' is the truth of the world. A work of art doesn't invent truth, but it does make it accessible to us in ways that are not normally available because words and images have been tarnished by overuse or neglect" ~Ezra Pound

How can we use our art to present age old truths in new ways? Is it possible for art to present the truth more clearly than words are capable? Does this inspire you to push for more creativity and innovation?

Happy Harvest!

Happy Harvest! The weather gets crisper and the leaves enjoy their last moments of beauty before falling to the ground. You break out the boots on the way to the theatre and wear your scarf for most of barre. Hot tea in a thermos replaces ice water before morning class. Nutcracker music wafts between the studios and you wonder if maybe this is the year you've been dreaming about.

As we begin to gear up for the busy season ahead, may we take the time to find stillness. May you remember to be present and never so caught up in your routine or comfort zone that you miss the people around you. Know that your worth is not determined by your role on the cast list or how many shows you're in. May you live each moment in confidence and thankfulness as you begin reap the rewards of this year's hard work.

creative nights

Collective Creative night

A lot of us just need some space to dance–uninhibited, without having to worry about who's watching, the right technique, etc. We need an outlet to explore our creativity outside a formal dance institution. And we need the freedom to remember the real joy that comes from dancing. Really we just need to relax and enjoy dancing for what it is.

The Bluebird collective seeks to offer advanced/professional level artists age 18 and older just that. We start with a class/warm-up and then spend some time collaborating, creating, and exploring. The collective also serves as a laboratory for the creative process by providing eager dancers and encouraging + constructive peer feedback to works in progress.

Our first creative night will be October 26. Let us know if you'd like to join us (rebekah [at] bluebirduncaged.com) Hope to see you there!
