Dignity

#zippypouchproject

Hope and dignity–that's our mission. Primarily we focus on dance but with the lauch of our merch table, Kelle Diaddigo (the curator of Bluebird: merch), has a challenge for you to spread the love in a more practical way. Check it out!

Calling the handmade community. I’d like to invite you into an opportunity to change a life. But first, I’d like to introduce you to Vintage Bird.

Vintage Bird is the logo for Bluebird: merch which is affiliated with Bluebird: uncaged. For more info on Bluebird click here.

A few weeks ago our church challenged our women to "be shade" for a special group of ladies in Atlanta.

"We have connected with some organizations in Atlanta who have devoted their purpose to reaching out and caring for female victims and survivors of sex trafficking, abuse and/ or involved in the sex industry."

The challenge was to collect items to give to these special ladies.

"[W]hile the items are all designed for exterior beauty, they are a key that opens a door into the hearts of the women and help begin a conversation about the beauty they have in the image of The One they were created by and for"

I decided to make some zip pouches and put our bluebird logo tags on the side because for us at bluebird uncaged, vintage bird stands for freedom. As I sewed the pouches, I prayed for the dear ladies who would receive them. I prayed that every time they saw the bird they would be one step closer to their journey towards freedom.

Vintage Bird was recognized by one of the volunteers that was assimilating the donations into care packages. She contacted us and said there would be a need for more pouches like these to give to the ladies.

Her words: I am SO grateful for you! I loved the pouches! We already took them to a club and you should see the women fighting over them! We can use them to create make up and gift bags for the girls. THANK YOU SO MUCH! They were our favorite!

So the #zippypouchproject was born.

Here is where you can help change a life:  Photo.PNG

We would love for you to jump in a sew up a few or a lot of pouches and send them to us so that we can get them to where they are needed. The pouches should finish about 8" x 9". Get creative. There are many zip pouch tutorials available. If you don't sew, consider picking a pouch up at your local store or order from Etsy.

Thank you so much,
Kelle Diaddigo
